A Polkadotty Party

So I just got to experience another joy of being a Polkadotty Mum! We were invited up to our old play group as one of the boys was going to be celebrating his 3rd birthday. We have been meaning to go back and visit so we happily accepted the invite.

To our surprise. . . (mainly mine), it turned out to be a full blown Polkadots Party! All the songs they sung were Polkadots songs, all the decorations were pictures of The Polkadots, and after nibbles everyone continued to watch The Polkadots on DVD!

I was a little taken back with the whole situation. Blown away that someone had thought to have this as a theme for a party, and also that my picture was on the wall! bahahaha! To everyone else it was nothing. . . There are still a lot of things I am getting used to with all this show biz stuff! Ashton thought nothing of it! Ha ha.

"Oooh Mummy Olkabot Carly"

I thought my son would be A LOT older than 20 months old before he started calling me by my first name!!! But it has begun! The fact that he constantly hears and see's me being called Carly on our DVD's and in our shows and also by all his cousins has taught him that I respond to both of these titles!

The other day while I was getting ready for a show he walked into my room, picked up an orange head band, put it on his head and said with a cheeky grin on his face, "I Carly". He then proceeded to hold up my orange hair ties and say "Ooooh Carly!".

I have mixed feelings about Ashton calling me by my first name... mainly because he has started using it to tell me off, or to tell me he doesn't want to me to do something! "No, Carly!" I laugh, but at the same time I feel like saying "Its mummy to you thanks!" But, I just roll with it! Its just part of my life as a Polkadotty Mum!

"How's Work?"

Since the essence of my blog is my life as a Polkadotty Mum, I thought I would share the blog I wrote for our Polkadots.co.nz blog today... since its all about being a Polkadotty Mum!

Quite often, we, (The Polkadots) find ourselves being asked, “How is work going?”. We then find ourselves looking blankly at them and then thinking out loud will say, “Work? I don’t work”. People then go on to clarify and say “How are The Polkadots going?” to which we respond “Oh, Polkadots! Polkadots is going great!”

Don’t get me wrong, its not that doing everything Polkadotty isn’t hard work, but the way we see it, everything we do with or for Polkadots is just an extension of what we are trying to do as mothers. We work really hard to make sure that whatever we do, Polkadots or not, that it is going to make us all better mums.

When we are writing songs, we write them with the children and depending on how they respond to the song tells us whether its a keeper or not. When we are coming up with activity ideas to go along with our songs we try them out with our children first. When we are trying to get scripting down for our next big show, the children will get mini shows of their very own. We LOVE making learning exciting for our children and we would be doing all these things whether we were Polkadots or not, so it’s especially great that we can share it with all the other mums out there who want to be the best mums they can be as well.

The Polkadots Entourage (A little while back now. . . there are now two more on the way)

The Polkadots Entourage (A little while back now. . . there are now two more on the way)

So, although life can be pretty full on as a Polkadot, its a life where we get to sing all the time. We get to dance (workout) nearly every day of the week. We get to learn amazing things about our world, and play alongside our children where imaginations are the controlling factor. We are showing our children how we are using our talents and developing new ones. That’s our work.

Polkadotty Mum

Part of being a Polkadotty Mum means that I do things that are Polkadotty... not only in a fun sense, but also in an entertaining sense too. Over the last couple of weeks we have been rehearsing rather intensely to try and get our show up to scratch and looking fabulous for the 10 performances we will do for the Royal Easter Show THIS WEEK!!!
My body feels shot... But the show is looking great and I can't wait to get up there and get into real Polkadotty Action. These are the photos from our rehearsals!
Always exciting when we all end up doing the same move! Wahoo!
I'm obviously very in character in this shot! Koopa intrigued with the fact that I'm a tiger!
The ever so popular skeletons are BAAACK!
Go Dooby, Go Dooby! Go Go Go Dooby!!!
Funny story... My foot got stuck in my skirt coming out of this spin! Was very nearly, very tragic! managed to pull it off though! bahaha.
